My First Real Post
August 7, 2007 on 1:28 pm | By rian | In Uncategorized | No Commentshello friends
so i have this urge to start talking about how i’ve never done a blog before. i also have this urge to start commenting on my feelings while writing this. for instance, i feel dumb, i don’t want to write dumb things, is there a point to what i am writing? who even cares?
as usual, i am going to ignore those bad feelings and just continue on naturally.
so here is my first natural thing to say: my life sucks so hard right now. yes i know it could suck worse and life is a blessing and that i’m probably a stupid spoiled bitch for even saying something like that. haha maybe it would be really funny if i told you why my life sucks.
ignoring the usual reasons (lack of point, lack of time, lack of money) it sucks right now because i totally just deleted a whole month of data that i’ve been collecting for my urop with james mclurkin. through the magic of computers here is a transcript of what i did:

we’ll face your face
August 5, 2007 on 12:37 pm | By dugan | In Uncategorized | No Commentsshampoo and the space faces return this month with a brand new ep of sweeeet jamz. the third of august is even longer/better/stupider than the third of july. drenched in vintage organ sounds and guitar harmony, this is the most abstract yet coherent space faces material TO DATE. don’t miss out on the hottttest summer record EVER! download both ep’s here and crank it. and no, it’s definitely not too early to get excited for the third of september.
A scented vice

Anyway, this tank top smells of the beach and sunscreen and champagne. Of the day we drank mimosas on South Beach at, I think it was, 7 in the morning. The strange thing is that she didn’t forget her shirt (maroon on the floor under my glove compartment) that sandy day in July. It must’ve been nearly three weeks later. How then does it smell like sunscreen on the beach with spilled champagne? “Don’t throw it Did I forget to mention something? Oh yes, when I was young I bought an Oasis shirt on eBay. Packaged with a satanic leaflet and a small receipt signed, “Thank you— Barbara.” It smelled like the ocean but not the true blue sea everyone smells on a trip to the beach. It was more a chemical smell, the kind women wear between their breasts to attract hungry men in much the same way blood billowing from a beleaguered seal piques the grumbling gut of a great white. Its smell, satan, Satan? Satan. Nevertheless an obsession. My youthful naivety was thrown into an infested shallow. Reborn into a world where a shirt, sent by post (that vile pamphlet sharing the same biodegradable bed as that lovely scent), could set a lustful mind to sail. What fantasies arise when the foreign is nothing but a shirt? in the water. Never,” I said, “please. Don’t ask, I’d just rather not.” Seedy in my bed, sharing with only my nose the wonders of a world both wanton and weary, now withered like snuff. Once black, then gray, with “Oasis” brightly displayed. Now it’s simply a maroon tank top with a similar smell but more familiar. No longer a satanic message. No longer a hidden pleasure but an obsession nevertheless. Nevertheless destined to fade as well. Is sin an obsession or is it the other way around? |
oh hAY
August 1, 2007 on 12:44 am | By dugan | In Uncategorized | No Commentsso this is how this thing works:
this is the world’s FIRST multiperson blog! sirsly. the FIRST and LAST(?). we are truly innovative. anyway, right now there are three of us bloggin’ and it’s fun. the page will randomly display one when you first load it, then you can navigate through the others using the menu at the top. and this is the best part: TRANSITIONS. for those of you familiar with desktop manager, the idea won’t seem quite as unbelievably imaginitive (but just keep in mind that part about this being the FIRST multiperson blog), but it’s still pretty sweet. just try it out. as of this post, there are 6 transitions that the browser randomly chooses from each time you go from one person’s blog to another’s. and here’s the second best part: if you want to be a part of this blog, we think THAT’S GREAT. all you have to do is write a script for a new transition and you’re in. send us an email if you are interested and we’ll let you know everything you need to know to write one.
ok, now that all that is taken care of, you might be wondering what kinds of CRUCIAL SOCIAL ISSUES, NEW ARTISTIC MOVEMENTS, EXCITING SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERIES, &c. we’ll be addressing on this blog. well, it will probably be more like useless blather, but we swear it will be fun. and occassionally maybe we’ll write about something important. but not today. today i tell you everything that i’m thinking of right now:
1) jessica came back from her internship in california this week! we hung out today for a while. also, check out the family portrait at flowerelectronics.com.
2) galaxie 500 totally rules
3) restorative beers totally rule
4) barry leaves 41w tomorrow!!!
5) those are sad exclamation points, e.g. denial punctuation and not excitement punctuation
6) i may have a hammond organ in my room next year
7) i hate homer
